They've been charged with stealing more kilos from their own drug cases to traffic., U.S. Attorneys continue to list another "Columbus police officer" who was with Mefford and Castillo, and who was complicit as they were committing their crimes.

Before the notice of retirement, Columbus police relieved this fifth Drug Cartel Unit officer of his regular assignment in April of 2022. That was seven months after federal agents arrested his teammates Merino and Kotchkoski. He was stripped of his badge, service guns and ammunition.
