The fire, which started early Monday morning, injured the six graduate students and left them with no possessions or a place to live, according to the university.
The students were taken to a hospital and some required surgery, according to the university. It is not clear how many of the students had significant injuries.
The students lost all of their belongings including passports and other documents, clothing, electronics, books and more, the university said. None of the graduate students had renters insurance. The university is providing housing near campus, technology and Uber vouchers – for appointments and medical visits – to the displaced students, the university said.The fire is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal.
