All new car buyers will see a rise in tax
Motorists could be hit with a £600 increase in car tax for driving eight family cars by 2025. Under the Labour government, all new car buyers will see a rise in tax, although those purchasing greener vehicles will be less affected. Hybrid drivers will pay an extra £135 to £327 in tax depending on the model they choose, while battery electric vehicle owners will only have to shell out an additional £10, according to the VED bands.
' Family EVs that will be impacted include the Kia EV9 - £62,775, Volkswagen ID Buzz - £59,035 and Kia EV6 - £43,325 as well as the BMW iX - £60,178, BMW i5 - £61,016, Tesla Model Y - £46,990, Volkswagen ID. 3 - £49,295 and also the Kia Nero EV - £42,445. Tom Banks, a car insurance specialist at Go Compare, has offered advice on how to cope with the impending hike in Vehicle Excise Duty rates set for 2025.
