A 68-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified man in Barangay Baritan, Malabon City on Sunday morning, Feb. 26.
According to the initial report of the North Police District , the victim was walking to C. Arellano Street, Barangay Baritan, Malabon City at around 5:58 a.m., when the suspect suddenly fired his gun toward the victim but missed him.Police said the victim was dead on the spot while the suspect fled with the gun.
Based on the statements of the witnesses, the suspect was wearing a black jacket with a hood, a red t-shirt, and black jogging pants. Police recovered from the crime scene four fired cartridge cases of caliber .45, which will be subjected to ballistic examination, and two pieces of baton used by the suspect as walking sticks, which will undergo fingerprint analysis.
Meanwhile, NPD Director Brig. Gen. Ponce Peñones Jr. said the man behind the shooting has been arrested. He refused to name the suspect.The victim’s body was brought to NPD Forensic Unit for an autopsy examination.
