SEVEN bills that will provide monthly pension, financial assistance and allowance to indigent persons with disabilities were approved at the committee level of the House of Representatives on Wednesday.The Special Committee on PWDs formed a technical working group, led by Quezon City 3d District Rep. Franz Pumaren, to consolidate House Bills 1754, 3256, 4211, 4250, 4548, 5071 and 5498, which were authored by Reps.
In Pumaren's House Bill 4211, 'the eligible PWD will be eligible to a monthly pension from the Department of Social Welfare and Development amounting to P2000 to augment his/her daily subsistence.''The DSWD and the National Council on Disability Affairs shall make sure that a database of all PWDs is created to ensure that social pensions are effectively distributed and that the system for implementing the provisions of this measure is properly monitored,' he added.
