The capital’s pop-up ice rinks will shortly open their gates to the public for another chance to enjoy the singular magic of skating in the city. Although the biting nighttime temperatures at this time of year tend to drive the capital’s population indoors, in search of comfort food and central heating, the prospect of gliding along the ice lit by the glow of Christmas lights is one that makes being outdoors not just bearable, but beautiful.
