As southeast winds pick up this evening, watch for some scattered showers across central Indiana. Severe weather is not expected.

INDIANAPOLIS — We just had our biggest daylight gain of any week for the entire year. It is always centered around theEvery day, we have been gaining 2 minutes and 37 seconds in Indianapolis — and even more seconds farther north. We have finally gained enough daylight to give us 8 p.m. sunsets starting this weekend. Twilight or dusk will last until roughly 9 p.m.Because of the curvature of the Earth, the rate at which you gain daylight is dependent on your latitude, or how far north you live.

Here is a list of 2024 Total Solar Eclipse events in IndianaWe will gain daylight until June 20. Sunsets on that day will be at 9:16 p.m. for Indianapolis. After that, we will start losing daylight again. It will start at a very slow rate, basically unnoticeable. The losses will pick up in August and September.After a cold front hits Friday night, temperatures will drop for the weekend. Expect 40s on Saturday and 50s on Sunday. Northeast winds will last much of the weekend.
