SAN ANTONIO — 80 special needs patients had to be evacuated from a nursing home on the northeast side of town after a fire broke out in their kitchen, SAFD says.responded to the Regent Care Center of Oakwell Farms located in the 8500 block of Laurens Lane near Harry Wurzbach Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday for reports of a fire.
When first responders arrived, they found a small fire inside the kitchen. Officials say the fire was started by greasy rags in a box they found. 80 special needs patients from the nursing home had to be evacuated as a precaution. The fire was extinguished quickly, and the patients were returned to their rooms.
