It’s a “worry” that Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is heading off to China and is not taking media with him, says Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“We’ll have to rely on the Chinese Communist Party’s state-controlled media to a large degree”, Mr Kenny said. “We need to know when this visit was planned, whether Andrews sought advice on it from the Foreign Minister Penny Wong before he chose to go, and to what extent the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has briefed the Premier about possible diplomatic difficulties and traps that will be set for him.
“There is every chance China will use this visit as a public relations tool, it’ll push their worldview – Daniel Andrews will just be a pawn in the Chinese propaganda game.”
