Experts say some Christmas lights will stop you getting good sleep, even when they are switched off
As the festive season is here, homes across the UK are aglow with twinkling fairy lights and colourful Christmas displays. But while these decorations bring joy and warmth, they might also be stealing your precious sleep. A sleep expert has revealed how certain types of Christmas lights could be disrupting your rest and leaving you groggy the next morning.
"Bright, flashing, or blue-toned Christmas lights before bed are a sleep hygiene disaster. They confuse your brain, suppress melatonin, the sleep hormone, and make it harder for your body to wind down,” said the expert. Blue light is notorious for disrupting sleep, whether it comes from your phone, LED bulbs, or festive fairy lights. Reese said: “Evenings filled with blue light exposure lead to suppressed melatonin production and a disrupted circadian rhythm."
