Jean-Alain Boumsong The Frenchman was one of Rangers' more profitable free transfers. Boumsong joined the Gers from French side AJ Auxerre in 2004 and was sold on to Newcastle United for £8m just six months later. Boumsong made 26 appearances for the Gers, notching two goals and one assist and received a 2004-05 league winners' medal.
