Nearly a month after Senior Airman Roger Fortson was shot and killed in the doorway of his Florida apartment by an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy -- FOX 10 News has obtained the 911 calls that led deputies to the apartment complex. ) - We’ve seen the shocking body camera video of the moments leading up to Senior Airman Roger Fortson being shot and killed in his apartment doorway. While he’s armed with a gun -- it’s pointing towards the floor -- as the responding Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy fired six shots.
FOX 10 News has obtained the 911 calls -- an employee of the apartment complex -- making the first call on behalf of a resident who made a complaint. “Sheriff’s office... Open the door!!!” -- Fortson opened the door moments later -- the deputy saying, “Step back!” -- before firing his gun.Operator: “Had you heard anything else other than the arguing?”23-year-old Fortson’s family and their lawyer - Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump -- argues the shooting was completely unjustified and that the deputy had gone to the wrong apartment.
