The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to reports of a derelict building on fire on Busby Road, Glasgow, last night. A fire ripped through the Carnbooth House Hotel, a large country house that was built by architect Alexandar Cullen around 1900.Ten fire vehicles were originally sent to the scene, while six appliances and one aerial appliance are still currently extinguishing the fire.Cops have confirmed the Carmunnock Bypass between Busby Road and Carmunnock Road remains closed this morning.
Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area and nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed. A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:"We were alerted at 8.03pm on Thursday, August 17, to reports of a derelict building on fire at Busby Road, Carmunnock, Glasgow."As of Friday, August 18, at 8.39am, there are still six fire appliances and one aerial appliance in attendance, and firefighters are continuing to extinguish the fire.said: “Due to a building fire, Carmunnock Bypass remains closed between Busby Road and Carmunnock Road this morning.
