🇫🇷 Christopher Nkunku 🏴 Mason Mount 🔄 Formation switch How Chelsea could look under Mauricio Pochettino | WhoScored
title. Co-owner Todd Boehly was prepared to loosen the purse strings and the west London side invested heavily in the squad, signing Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marc Cucurella.First there was Tuchel then Potter, Saltor, Lampard and now it’s Pochettino’s turn to take charge of ChelseaYet Tuchel was gone in September and replaced with Graham Potter, and despite a bright start, the former Brighton man found himself out of his depth at Stamford Bridge.
This could prove good news for one forgotten Chelsea star. Mason Mount’s current deal at the club expires in 12 months’ time and there are concerns he will leave the club in the summer. Mount has no shortage of suitors, with Liverpool andboth linked with a move for the England international, but if Pochettino has his way, the 24-year-old could yet salvage his Blues career.
If reports are to be believed, then N’Golo Kante looks set to be one who plays a prominent role under Pochettino. To rely solely on the Frenchman is a risk, however, given Kante’s injury issues in recent years, but if he is able to get back to his best and maintain his impressive fitness levels, then Pochettino has the ideal ball winner in the middle of the park. Fernandez is another who’d benefit from having a player of Kante’s ilk in alongside him in midfield.
Another key area Pochettino does want to address is in midfield. Given Kante and Mateo Kovacic’s injury problems, it’s understandable that Chelsea would look to add bodies in the middle of the park, even with the former potentially a key man for Pochettino.
