A corpse flower is blooming at the San Diego Botanic Garden, the plant blooms infrequently every couple years.
ENCINITAS, Calif. — An Amorphophallus Titanum, also known as a corpse flower is blooming at the“This happens infrequently every few years, two to seven years well get a bloom,” San Diego Botanic Garden Senior Director of Facilities and Strategic Initiatives Brandi Eide said.
“It smells anything from onion to diaper to rotten you know carcass, rat or something like that and everything in between,” Eide said “In doing that it traps them in the base for a while, makes them pollinate which then in turn just keeps the seed producing,” Eide said.
