The ‘Taylor Swift | Songbook Trail’ will easter egg 16 of the musician’s most memorable looks throughout the V&A’s permenant galleries this summer.
The UK’s leading cultural institutions are still experiencing a post-pandemic slump in footfall, but the V&A has almost returned to its 2019 levels of traffic. At least part of this success has been attributed to the reopening of its children’s museum, which caters to an audience it will capitalise on further with the launch of a miniature exhibition dedicated to Taylor Swift later this month.
Among those installations will be a host of effects from Swift’s personal archive: instruments, music awards and unseen storyboards, along with the cowboy boots Swift wore to support country artists Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on their 2007 Soul2Soul II tour, and the ruffled Elena Velez gown that most recently featured in the “Fortnight” video. “We are delighted to be able to display a range of iconic looks worn by Taylor Swift at the V&A this summer,” Bailey continued.
