His desperate mother admitted she threw her son out of the family home
A mother has accused social services of failing her troubled 15-year-old son, who has ended up homeless and 'sleeping in a shed'. The youth is being treated for ADHD and autism, but has a more serious undiagnosed mental health condition which needs urgent treatment, according to his mum.
The boy is said to have been sleeping at a friend's house and it is alleged he has spent at least one night sleeping in a shed. Asked if she would take her son back, the mother said: "I don't feel at home I'm able to manage him. Social services are aware of this situation. It's just disgusting how they are not helping him."Pressed on what she though the authorities should be doing, the woman said: "I want them to give him some care.
The mother said her son had been under the care of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Salford since he was five. She said he had never been in trouble with the police and was not aware he had ever taken drugs. She added her son had another side: "He can be a lovely boy. He can be helpful. He can be polite and caring and the most loving child. He can be helpful around the house with his sister. He just needs help. He's crying our for it."The M.E.N. put the mother's criticisms, and that the boy has been homeless since Monday, to Salford council.
