Watch more of our videos on ShotsTV.comTelford & Wrekin Council said that a number of roof panels had been ripped off by the storm, while others were loosened.

It said scaffolding would be needed for workers to get up and repair the panels and the centre would now be shut until the weekend as a result. The council said those with swimming lessons booked at the centre would be contacted while members would be able to use alternative facilities in the borough.

An update from the council said:"Unfortunately an inspection of the roof at Abraham Darby Sports Centre has confirmed that a number of roof panels were removed by the storm and other have been loosened."As such it is necessary on health and safety grounds to keep the centre closed whilst the work is undertaken."We will contact swimming lesson parents directly.

"Aspirations members are very welcome to use any of our other facilities and the swimming pools at Oakengates and Newport are open to all with timetables available on our website. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and will update this page as we know more.
