Ex-Macquarie, JPMorgan banker Natalie Garcia and Deerpath’s head of IR Ben Daly are raising capital for a seventh fund that will be lent to middle-market, private equity-backed companies.

To minimise risk, Deerpath lends on a first-lien, senior-secured basis, all but guaranteeing the company will be repaid should its borrowers default on their debt. Approximately 98 per cent of its loans are lent to private equity-backed companies. Ms Garcia, who also spoke at an industry event in Melbourne this week, is a former Macquarie Capital and JPMorgan banker who joined Deerpath in 2015. As head of underwriting, Ms Garcia’s team has sourced more than 1900 deals.
