A huge reveal from Cobra Kai season 6 part 1 cleverly ties in with the signature tagline of the series. The first batch of episodes in Cobra Kai's sixth and final season offered a multitude of twists and turns, with one of its biggest coming as early as the second episode. Surprisingly, Kim Sun-Yung is somehow still alive, even at this point in The Karate Kid timeline.
Mentioned by name in The Karate Kid Part III, Kim Sun-Yung trained both Terry Silver and John Kreese after their time in the Vietnam War. Despite his importance to both characters' backstories, and in turn, the action at large, Kim has never directly factored into any of Daniel LaRusso or Johnny Lawrence's stories. Given the gap between the present-day plotline and Kreese's origin story, it made sense to assume that things would stay that way.

Kim Sun-Yung's Season 6 Role Reveals How Cobra Kai Can Finally Die If Kim Sun-Yung Dies, Cobra Kai Can Die Too Interestingly, though, Kim Sun-Yung's role in Cobra Kai doesn't outright prove the statement is true, and can instead be a way for the series to prove it wrong. Because Cobra Kai's entire existence is tied to him, his fate in the show can be used to bring the wider narrative of the series to an end.
