A ridge of high pressure is over the southwest part of the state and Bering Sea, moving north and east. It will provide a sunshine bubble over the state for several days.
Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska will benefit from this ridge. Already on Friday, sunshine was out and warming up sections of the city to the 70s. The high pressure will also warm Southwest and Interior parts of Alaska to the 60s and 70s over the weekend, but the drying and warming is not expected to produce any fire or flood danger. Water will remain high on the Tanana River in Fairbanks over the weekend as a result of the warming.
Southeast Alaska will not get in on the nice weather from the high pressure, but won’t have to deal with heavy rain either. Instead, a rotating low in the Gulf of Alaska will keep them in the clouds with possible showers. The hot spot in Alaska on Friday was Eagle at 75 degrees. The cold spot was in Denali National Park at 35 degrees.Alaska officials wait for weather opening to recover wrecked flightseeing plane from Denali parkAlaska lawmakers react to ‘horrifying’ Trump assassination attempt
