But behind closed doors, the actress pursued other passions and hobbies, many of which have been brought to light by a new exhibition and forthcoming auction of her personal possessions by Sotheby’s in London.

By 1939, when she auditioned for the role of Scarlett O’Hara in the movie adaptation of Margaret Mitchell’s novel, she was still relatively unknown.
