A Brandeis high school senior and founder of a local non-profit that gives new basketball shoes to other athletes in need is this month's Pay It 4Ward winner.
Meet Rian Forestier , she’s a senior at Brandeis High School and the proud founder of 4Ward , a local non-profit that donates the proper basketball shoes to female athletes in need.
“Me and my mom did some research and we found out that over 85% of middle school kids, at Title One middle schools here in San Antonio alone, don’t have the correct shoes to play basketball in,” explained Forestier. “It really hit me; this should not be the reason someone stops playing or quits the sport they love,” said Forestier.
Since 2022 4Ward has donated more than 200 basketball shoes at three middle schools, but the goal is to give more and reach many more young athletes.Jeannette: "If you guys were to win a thousand dollars, what would that mean to you?"
