The first images of a new Harry Kane statue in his home town have been revealed - and the reaction from fans has been a mixed one.BBC reported last month that the statue has been in storage following several failed attempts to install it across various areas of the borough.has obtained pictures of the statue, commissioned in 2019, and as-yet-unseen Waltham Forest Council spent £7,200 on it, at the request of residents. But it hasn't found a home...
The initial BBC report on the statue added that there were plans to install the statue on a platform at Chingford Overground station, but Transport for London rejected this following a risk assessment.BBC's Local Democracy Reporting Service report that a previous proposal to place the statue elsewhere was scrapped by two councillors for unknown reasons.
Fans may not have to wait long to see it in person, though, as a spokesperson for Kane said last month: "Especially with Harry being England and Tottenham's all time top goalscorer, it is what he deserves."The location of the statue is really important to us and like Emma said, we are having some issues at the moment, but when we get it right, we will be happy to go."
