When thinking of ways to increase our resilience, helping others would likely seem counterintuitive. Yet, evidence suggests this practice helps us far more than we may expect.
Helping others provides potential benefits to all personality types, even those who are not naturally helpers.. Given these constant demands, it may seem reasonable to assume that people may be more inclined, and better served, to spend more time protecting their own needs and looking to take care of themselves first and foremost.
