“We’ve got such a rich musical heritage in Stockport'
A mural paying homage to Joy Division has been created in Stockport to coincide with the area being recognised as this year's Town of Culture.
READ MORE: Robbie Williams, Flynn Francis and Tim Metcalfe to launch brand new dance project at Creamfields John and Rosemary Barratt, who run The Stockport Music Story highlighting the area’s rich connection with the Manchester music scene, also helped get the mural project underway and say it's ‘unbelievable’ to see the installation now in all its glory above the Syndikat.
“Without Strawberry Studios, I think the musical landscape of the Manchester music scene would be completely different. And we’ve also got so much going on now too - we’ve got Blossoms who have done fantastic things for the town. They played at Edgeley Park and sold out 15,000 seats. For a local group to go and do that within a few years of just playing in the Blossoms pub to 50 people is incredible.
