National Highways will shut the A52's QMC roundabout for two weekends in January and February to replace a damaged bridge beam. Drivers are urged to plan ahead and expect delays.

Drivers using the A52 have been warned to prepare for upcoming weekend closures near Nottingham 's Queen's Medical Centre ( QMC ). National Highways will shut the A52 's QMC roundabout for two full weekends in January and February to carry out essential bridge repairs . The closures are necessary to safely remove and replace a beam in the bridge, which was damaged in 2018 when a lorry carrying an excavator struck it.

National Highways, responsible for maintaining England's motorways and major A roads, confirmed that the bridge repairs are progressing well. A spokesperson stated, 'Our bridge repairs are progressing well and we’re now preparing to remove the damaged beam and install the new one. To do this safely we need two full weekend closures.'The first closure will commence at 8pm on Friday, January 24, and continue until 6am on Monday, January 27. The second closure will be in effect from 8pm on Friday, February 7, to 6am Monday, February 10. With the expectation of heavy traffic during these periods, National Highways urges motorists to 'plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys.' The agency has also implemented contingency dates on the weekends between Friday, January 31, to Monday, February 3 and from Friday, February 14, to Monday, February 17, in case the works require rearranging. This bridge fix, along with its associated closures, began in August 2024 and is projected to be completed by summer 2025
