Leeds United manager Daniel Farke faces a selection dilemma ahead of their clash with Sheffield United due to the late arrival of several players from international duty. The fitness of Junior Firpo, Ao Tanaka, and Brenden Aaronson is uncertain after lengthy flights.
Sleep quality and flight times will play a major role in Leeds United team selection tomorrow night. Daniel Farke is privy to all of the vital information, but we are left to go off match finish times and predicted landing times back in the UK.
While Farke acknowledged Aaronson would arrive late and be in a race to recover for Friday at 8pm, he also reiterated the immense physical condition the American is in. The German had to assess whether it would best to start the 23-year-old and bring him off early or wait to introduce him as a second-half substitute.
That means Largie Raamzani can move to the right and allow Wilfried Gnonto, my preference over Joel Piroe, to start as the central attacking midfielder behind a restored Mateo Joseph. Tanaka is another, after a 14-hour flight from Tokyo, I would have liked to ease back in, but needs must, as we know, in midfield.
Beren’s XI: Meslier; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Firpo; Rothwell, Tanaka; Ramazani, Gnonto, Solomon; Joseph.
