The Prime Minister has hit back at Peter Dutton's claims that he ignored advice about the Indigenous Voice with the release of the Solicitor-General's highly anticipated opinion.

that the Voice to Parliament was constitutionally sound and would not impose any obligations on the government.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has hit back at Peter Dutton for"nonsense" claims around the Voice. Picture: David Swift The Prime Minister went on to highlight “key” clauses including advice including paragraph 17 which found that the “modest” change would “enhance” Australia’s governing system. Mr Albanese hoped that this legal advice, released on Friday, would put to bed any concerns around constitutional legalities held by the Australian public.

“The suggestion that it would … clog up the courts, or to cause government to grind to a halt, ignores the reality that litigation concerning the validity of decisions of the executive government is already very common and that it does not have either of those consequences,” he said. However, the Liberals have been quick to highlight the submission is not the original advice provided to the working group which produced the final wording of the question and proposed constitutional amendment.
