Acclaimed Mexican actor Emilio Echevarría has died at the age of 80, it was announced on Monday by The Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences.
He is also known for the role of El Chivo opposite Gael Garcia Bernal in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s gritty underworld film Amores Perros from 2000.The star was born in Mexico City and started acting in the 1970s. He went on to become a national treasure as he was nominated three times for Mexico’s Ariel Awards.
The bilingual star then had a sizable role in the 2001 flick Y Tu Mamá También with Bernal as well as notable Mexican actor Diego Luna who is best known for Narcos. Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike were also in the 007 adventure that had the settings of North Korea and Cuba. He is also known for the role of El Chivo opposite Gael Garcia Bernal in Alejandro G.
