An accountant who cheated his company out of £3 million and lived a ‘high rolling’ celebrity lifestyle with the money has been jailed.
He lived a life of luxury with the funds, using them to buy a home and multiple cars, as well being treated to a ‘staggering’ day atHe bet so much money on greyhounds that bookmakers Stan James eventually named a dog after him. He made a total of 300 transactions, before squandering some of the money through betting sites, gambling two-and-a-half-million pounds overall, according to Judge Martin Griffith.Judge Griffith said Wiley was only around £700,000 down when he was caught, stating he had ‘pulled the wool over the eyes of auditors for a number of years’.He said: ‘I am not surprised, in this day and age, that you were corporately entertained at Wimbledon.
