Christine Anne Fletcher passed away peacefully on her birthday, December 1
Tributes have been paid to a Special Constable who was a friendly and familiar face in her community and was ‘very family orientated’. Christine Anne Fletcher, formerly of Moss Hall Road in Accrington , passed away peacefully from vascular dementia at Andrew Smith House, Stocks Hall Care Home, Nelson, at the age of 81 on her birthday, December 1.
Anne became a member of the Special Constabulary in 1975, rising to the rank of Sub Divisional Officer and left in 1990. The adored grandmother-of-six and great-grandmother-of-one, was a member of St Mary’s amateur dramatics based in Oswaldtwistle in the 70s and early 80s. Her last job was as a communications officer for Lancashire Constabulary, starting in 1985 and finishing in 2002. Anne was born to parents Arthur and Agnes and raised in Accrington with her siblings Julia and the late Marie, John and Angela.
The couple got married in 1964 at St Anne’s Church, Accrington, and had children Mark, Terry and Jason who joined the Accrington Pipe band along with their father. They enjoyed many holidays together including trips to Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean and Brazil.
