A 51-year-old woman, identified as Zoe Crowther, was found stabbed to death in her home in Accrington. A 52-year-old woman, Janet Connor, has been charged with murder and is awaiting trial. Police continue to investigate the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.
Heartbroken tributes have been paid to a 'loved mum, grandma, sister and auntie' who was found stabbed to death in Accrington . The woman's body was discovered at a ground floor flat on Walmsley Close, in the Church area of the town, at 12:25pm on Tuesday (January 14). Police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene following a 'concern for welfare call'. She has since been named as 51-year-old Zoe Crowther.
Lancashire Constabulary stated that her loved ones continue to receive support from specially-trained officers. Zoe’s family released a touching tribute: 'Mum was a kind-hearted, loving and selfless woman. She was a loved mum, grandma, sister and auntie. 'She will forever be missed. As a family we are heartbroken at this time and ask for privacy to support each other and come to terms with this devastating news.' A 52-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of murder. Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Janet Connor, 52, of Walmsley Close, Church, was charged yesterday with Zoe’s murder. Ms Connor appeared at Blackburn Magistrates Court this morning (January 17) and was remanded into custody to appear before Preston Crown Court on Monday (January 20). Detectives emphasized that 'the investigation is still very much ongoing' and appealed for anyone with information or footage to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fallows, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “First and foremost, my thoughts remain with Zoe’s loved ones, at what is an incredibly distressing time for them. Although we have charged a woman with murder, our investigation is still very much ongoing. We are continuing to appeal for any information or footage that could assist our enquiries. If you do have any information or footage, no matter how insignificant you may think it to be, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.” Anyone with information is urged to report it here or call 101, quoting log 0512 of January 14, 2025
