Dozens of venues in Nottingham are introducing new rules which could mean troublemakers are ordered to pay £1,500 if they commit acts of violence. The move, which aims to to crack down on violence and disorder, is part of a scheme being piloted in the city.

The scheme is being piloted in Nottingham by VIVA, which aims to eventually roll it out nationally. One of the venues that has signed up to the scheme is the New Foresters, the city's oldest gay pub. "We're very lucky that we get anywhere between 400 and 600 people in the venue and go a whole weekend without a single incident. It's been received really well, people are happy about it.
