ACTION 8 UPDATE: Montgomery police and city leaders held a news conference Monday to discuss the recent shootout that left a woman paralyzed. Action 8 carried that news conference live.
We have learned that five people now face charges in the shootout, which happened at around 1PM on Friday, April 12, in the 5500 block of Atlanta Highway, near the intersection of Eastern Boulevard. The gunfire struck Amy Dicks as she was sitting in her car, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down.Acting Montgomery Police Chief John Hall identified the suspects as:
Michael Johnson, 20, and Javaris Anderson, 22, both of Prattville – Charged with first-degree assault and two counts of firing a gun into an occupied vehicle Je’Kwon Foster, 20, and Ji’Mecya Ford, 19, both of Prattville, and Tyrone Davis, Jr., 18, of Millbrook – Charged with firing a gun into an unoccupied vehicle
, Johnson was taken into custody in Pelham on Sunday, May 19, and transferred to the Montgomery County Detention Facility.Acting Montgomery Police Chief John Hall said he credits the arrests to old-fashioned police work. He says the case was made more complicated because none of the suspects is from Montgomery. Hall said traffic cameras in the area of the shooting helped in the investigation.Bonds are as follows; Johnson and Anderson – $90,000 bond each.
