Tasmanian activists are calling on the Rockliff government to follow Victoria's decision to end native forest logging.
A group of activists from the Bob Brown Foundation, a Tasmanian-based organisation, rallied together on Wednesday to protect the habitat of Swift Parrots.

Picture: Bob Brown Foundation However she said"despite our appeals on behalf of the Swift Parrot, logging continues in this critical habitat". The Andrews government announced in its state budget last week that Victoria would end native logging by December this year.
“All of that has drastically cut the timber supply we can actually use. And that’s left workers in complete limbo,” it said. However, Environment and Water Minister Tanya Plibersek said it was key to acknowledge native forests were important carbon sequestration providers and wildlife habitat, in the wake of Victoria's news.
