The veteran actor always carries a penknife with him “because he’s an old man”.
Braveheart star James Cosmo faced an airport drama when he tried to board a plane with his trusty penknife. But when he was flying home to Scotland from London on Monday to attend the Daily Record’s Pride of Scotland awards airport staff wouldn’t let him board with the small weapon.
The 76 year old from Clydebank said: “I always carry a penknife in my pocket cause I’m an old man and since a boy I’ve carried a penknife.“When I got to the gate British Airways staff said I’d have to put my bag in the hold and couldn’t take it on board. But the wiley star got round the ban by posting the knife to himself via Royal Mail.
He said: “I went to the post office up the road - at the airport- and posted it back to me and it cost me £3.70.”Screen legend James, who also starred in Game of Thrones and Trainspotting, also revealed that he is about to star with Martin Compston in a new series for Amazon called Fear.James presented an award to Lifetime Achievement winner Elaine Wylie, who created The Daily Mile health initiative for kids, alongside Monarch of The Glen actor Dawn Steele.
