Actor Steve Buscemi is said to be doing well and recovering after he was punched in the face during a random attack on the streets of New York City Wednesday.

The department did put out a statement on the assault, granted without Buscemi's name on it, on the day of the crime.
Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” according to a statement from his publicist,A public information officer with the NYPD told NBC News officers arrived on the scene Wednesday to find Buscemi with bruising, swelling and bleeding to his left eye. However, he was stable when emergency medical services arrived and transported him to a local hospital for treatment.
“I saw he was with a woman, and then through the corner of the window I saw him trip and fall backwards,” a worker in the area who witnessed part of the assault told the New York Post. “He right away got up and ran in the opposite direction. I didn’t see who hit him."Buscemi's “Boardwalk Empire” co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was hit in the back of the neck with a rock while walking in Manhattan's Central Park on March 31.
