A 34-year-old actress appeared in court facing charges of failing to provide documents after being caught speeding twice in 16 days. Despite arguments for leniency based on her children and mental health, the court ultimately found that exceptional hardship was not proven.
An actress will learn her fate this afternoon after being caught speeding twice in 16 days. The 34-year-old appeared at Wirral Magistrates' Court facing two charges of failing to provide documents to police. She allegedly didn't respond to notices requesting the identity of the driver of her Audi Q7 when it was caught speeding on July 10th and July 26th in the Liverpool area. The mother-of-three was supported by her partner, Robbie Talbot, as she entered the court.
Flanagan previously claimed that she believed her boyfriend had responded to the police notices. She was found guilty of the two charges and faces a possible driving ban under the totting up procedure, with each count carrying six penalty points. During the hearing, the court chairman, David Holley, imposed a fine of £1,000 for each offence, totaling £2,000. He also added six penalty points for each offence. While acknowledging that a driving ban would typically be imposed in this situation, the magistrates took into account several mitigating factors, including Flanagan's three children, the impact of a ban on her children's father, her current partner, and the potential effects on her mental health. However, they ultimately concluded that exceptional hardship was not proven. The prosecution's case was that Flanagan had received the notices of prosecution but failed to respond appropriately. Flanagan's solicitor argued that she had not deliberately broken the law and that she misunderstood the process. He emphasized her status as a single mother and her efforts to provide for her children. Flanagan testified that she earns an inconsistent income as a social media influencer and that she relies heavily on her therapist for support. She also stated that her boyfriend, Robbie Talbot, does not drive and that she would be angered if he used her car.
