“Any compulsion for funding to go to unionised workplaces or those who agree to roll over on union demands is discriminatory and would see businesses who would otherwise consider involvement instead simply walk away,” he said.to revive the country’s industrial base and support transformational projects in sectors such as resources, medical science, transport and renewable energy.

In a submission, the ACTU said that legislation for the fund should be changed to ensure it is “creating secure, well-paid jobs, and unionised jobs”. A business would not be allowed to have “unresolved or adverse industrial rulings against it”, such as for treating workers unfairly, to qualify for funding.Australian Industry Group’s Mr Willox said it was “critical” that “no special regulatory requirements should be placed on the businesses engaged with the NRF”.
