Brett Sullivan has five hits in Triple-A El Paso's win; Ethan Salas swiped a base in Fort Wayne loss
Adam Mazur struck out eight over five strong innings and Double-A San Antonio pounded out 16 hits in a 12-5 win at Amarillo on Friday to start the Texas League season. Mazur allowed one run on two hits and a walk. Among the relievers to follow him, right-hander Woo-Suk Go struck out two in a scoreless ninth. Left-hander Austin Krob also struck out two in a scoreless inning.
Chihuahuas 5, Round Rock 4: DH Brett Sullivan drove in four runs on five hits and finished a homer shy of the cycle. 3B Matthew Batten went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. LHP Ryan Carpenter allowed four runs in 5⅔ innings in the start. Four relievers combined for 3⅓ scoreless innings, including RHP Kevin Kopps struck out two while recording four outs.
Great Lakes 3, TinCaps 2 : C Ethan Salas went 1-for-4 with a walk and a steal and CF Homer Bush Jr. went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored. 2B Nerwilian Cedeño went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. RHP Henry Baez threw two shutout innings in the start. RHP Mitch Miller allowed two runs — one earned — in 1⅔ innings in the loss in extra innings. LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE Storm 11, Rancho Cucamonga 5: 1B Romeo Sanabria went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored.
