While Adam Thomas won the public vote for the all star edition of I'm a Celebrity, his victory was shrouded in tension.
Last month, ITV viewers were shocked as they watched the scenes of the I'm a Celebrity: South Africa finale unfold. While Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas was seen to take the crown, his victory was overshadowed by walk outs and arguments between the campmates.
During the series, the 37-year-old was seen to clash with co-stars David Haye and Jimmy Bullard. While former boxer David was seen to 'bully' the actor while on the show, footballer Jimmy claimed Adam's behaviour in the show was 'aggressive' after a fallout nearly forced him to leave the camp.
While Adam looked defeated at the live finale of the ITV show, he has now given his fans an update after being able to take a full step away from the drama that unravelled. While the comments had left him under a 'dark cloud' for a while, Adam shared he is finally feeling free.
In the most recent episode of his podcast, At Home With The Thomas Bros, Adam's twin Scott said: 'Ever since all this jungle stuff, you’ve become a proper man, mate, you’ve got a different presence. You’ve got a new strength, mate, about you. Even the way you talk, everything.
' Saying he agrees the past couple of months have changed him, Adam responded: 'I don’t know, I feel like, for months, I just feel like there was a big dark cloud over me. It was for a while until after the final.
'And then, literally, about a week and a half after the final, I was like, ‘Oh my god, it’s gone’. ' While the I'm a Celebrity series was aired throughout April, the show was filmed late last year. Meaning Adam had been waiting for months for the drama to air on TV.
While his brothers Scott and Ryan acknowledged what a tough time the past weeks have been for the former Emmerdale star, Adam confessed he is now finally feeling like himself again. He explained: 'I just feel like a big weight has been lifted. Even when I did the podcast when I first came out, it was straight after as well so I was resenting it a lot, I was angry a lot, I was sad.
'But now I can see the light between the trees a little bit. I just feel like, you know what? It was what it was, it was meant to be, that was my journey and I feel like a better man for it. I feel so much better because of it.
' This is a stark contrast to how Adam initially felt after the finale, as he was seen to break down into tears in front of his brothers on the podcast, reports The Sun . At the time he confessed: 'I’m just tired, I want it all to go away and just be forgotten about.
The sad truth is that everyone will go on with their lives but for me, this will be it for me for the rest of my life.
' The highly dramatic finale of I'm a Celebrity reportedly sparked more than 1,000 Ofcom complaints as the live show went off the rails. At one point a confrontation erupted on stage with Jimmy Bullard, who accused Adam of being 'intimidating, aggressive and abusive' during an argument after he said 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here' without taking part in the paired trial.
While Sinitta and Gemma Collins were seen to walk off stage during the heated debate, David Haye also came under fire from fans for his 'bullying' behaviour. Since leaving the show, David suggested it was just banter. David even took to Instagram to ask his followers if they believed his actions and words had been hurtful on the show. The boxer was not pleased when the majority of people agreed he was a bully, calling his followers 'sensitive morons'.
