Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs star Josh Addo-Carr has apologised to his fans for posting a picture likening the Palestinian fight against Israel to Indigenous land rights.
Palestinian terrorist group Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel earlier this week and since the retaliation more than 2,200 people have died.
Josh Addo-Carr has apologised for making a social media post comparing the Israel-Palestinian conflict to Indigenous land rights. Picture: Ian Hitchcock/Getty Images“As a proud First Nations man, I saw a message of support against displacement and land rights, and I shared this without full consideration to, or understanding of, the current events happening overseas,” he said.
The 28-year-old NSW Blues winger added he wanted to share a message: “Respect; respect for each other, and each other’s culture.” “As the situation overseas is ongoing, complex, and emotive, I won’t be making any further comments at this time. My thoughts are with anyone affected by the situation.”
