The 34-year-old initially won the belt in 2019 with a win over Robert Whittaker in Melbourne, and defended the title on five occasions before Pereira dealt him a second career loss in November last year. Nicknamed 'Stylebender', the Nigerian Kiwi's current MMA record stands at 24-2 following his second round win against Pereira to take back the middleweight crown.
Strickland holds a 25-5 record ahead of the biggest fight of his career, having won his last two fights against Nassourdine Imavov and most recently Abusupiyan Magomedov in Las Vegas back in July. The 32-year-old from California is a former King of the Cage Middleweight Champion, a title he held from 2011 to 2013 before making the switch over to UFC.
