The Adult Disability Payment (ADP) has replaced Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for all new applicants and over 244,000 existing claimants in Scotland. Existing PIP recipients should have been transferred to ADP or have received notification of the transfer process. Social Security Scotland provides guidance on the transition, including contact information and steps to take during the move.

Adult Disability Payment has replaced Personal Independence Payment in Scotland for all new applicants and over 244,000 existing claimants. A new update from Social Security Scotland advises that anyone living north of the border on PIP “should now either have been transferred to Adult Disability Payment or have been informed that their transfer is in progress”.

Existing PIP claimants do not need to claim ADP and the letter from Social Security Scotland will explain when they will take over providing payments. “However, if you get any other benefits, you need to tell each provider about the move to make sure you stay in payment.”The three-month window between notification of a case transfer should be enough time to report the change to the relevant department to ensure a smooth transition with no breaks in payments.
