William Jewel Daniels was arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing 48-year-old Stephen Mark Peterman , who police believe interrupted Daniels burglarizing his work truck in northwest Austin early Monday morning. northwest Austin homicide earlier this weekAccording to the affidavit, 49-year-old Stephen Mark Peterman was shot multiple times around 3:50 a.m. Monday while walking his dog near his home on Amarillo Avenue.
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old William Jewel Daniels of San Antonio, was arrested and charged with murder Monday afternoon. The affidavit states that Daniels' left palm print was found on the rear driver's side door of Peterman's work truck, which was parked near his body. The truck's window was shattered. Surveillance video from a nearby home also captured the sound of six gunshots, followed by a red hatchback vehicle fleeing the scene at high speed. The vehicle matched the description of Daniels' registered 2012 Hyundai Veloster.
Detectives found no known connection between Daniels and Peterman or the neighborhood where the shooting occurred. Based on the evidence, investigators believe Peterman exited his home to walk his dog and interrupted Daniels burglarizing his work vehicle before Daniels shot him multiple times.Stay Connected
