It is the latest setback for the country's security forces after 100 personnel fled their posts during fighting last week.
At least 22 troops have been killed in an attack by Taliban militants targeting checkpoints in the north of Afghanistan.
The attack sparked a fierce gun battle that lasted into Sunday morning. The army sent in reinforcements and some of them were also killed.
