After 63 days of hunger strike, how much longer before Rishi Sunak acts on Iran? 🖊️ Richard Ratcliffe and Vahid_Beheshti
British-Iranian journalist and activist Vahid Beheshti on day 38 of his hunger strike hunger strike. He aims to provoke the UK Government into rethinking its approach to Iran and persuade it to classify the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terror group.
. The hunger strike club is a group no one really wants to belong to, but there is a solidarity in having walked the same path. Forty-two days is so much further along that path. Vahid is getting weaker and weaker as the days go by, but still in high spirits. He remains determined to go on until the UK Government places the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps There is a strange determination that sets in, sitting on the doorstep of the Foreign Office, staring at a stone grey wall while the Government studiously ignores your presence, and wondering who is actually listening on the other side.
The impact on the outside world is never so clear. Governments are never keen to acknowledge there is one. Vahid’s hunger strike has attracted less UK media attention than Richard’s, but perhaps more in Iran. Why is that?
