Anllelith Solis, an 8th-grade student at Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District in the Texas Rio Grande Valley, died Sunday, May 19, 2024.
Swimmers are being urged to take precautions at the beach after the body of a missing 14-year-old Rio Grande Valley girl was recovered at South Padre Island on Sunday. “You could be standing right next to another person, and all of a sudden the rip current takes out,” Cameron County Chief Park Ranger Horacio Zamora told
. This is what happened to the 14-year-old swimmer, Anllelith Solis, and her 7-year-old cousin, according to the Rio Grande Valley news station. The 7-year-old was rescued. Anllelith was last seen in the water near Beach Access #5 before being swept away by a strong rip current.
