Merseyside Police said three men had been arrested on suspicion of affray after reports of an altercation outside the Princess Royal Stand at 2.25pm.Three drones have been seized by police after they were flown in a restricted area during the Randox Grand National Festival 2024. There are currently flight restrictions in place at the event and this will continue tomorrow.
An Aintree spokesperson said: “Pikar was immediately attended by expert veterinary professionals during the seventh race of the day, but sadly passed away following a fall at the second last hurdle.But Ben Newman, from Animal Rising – a group which protested at last year’s Grand National, said: “This latest death shows the industry’s so-called ‘welfare’ changes are nothing but a cynical PR stunt.
They include reduced field of 34 horses, down from 40, as well as a standing start, a reduction in height to one of the fences and added foam and rubber toe boards on every fence.
